Recovery from Dental Implant Placement Differs for Everyone

Recovery from Dental Implant Placement Differs for EveryoneDental implants are a reliable way of replacing lost teeth. To get dental implants, you will have to undergo a dental implant placement procedure. This is a surgical procedure that will need time to heal. The healing process from this procedure can vary greatly from one person to another. Here are factors that contribute to this variation.

Medications

The type of medications used during the recovery process can affect it. When you come to our offices for a dental implant placement procedure, we will give you some medications you will use during the recovery process. These medications are meant to reduce discomfort and speed up recovery. However, if you choose to use unproven OTC medication for the same purpose, it can take longer to heal. Such medications are also risky and could cause other infections. This is why we insist that you use approved medications that are friendly to the recovery process.

Number of Implants

The number of implants placed during a dental implant placement procedure will determine how long it takes to recover. If you only receive a single dental implant, the recovery process is easier and faster. However, if you get dental implants for a full jaw or the entire mouth, it will take longer. This is because the implants will take time to adapt to your mouth structure.

State of Your Bone

The condition of your jaw bone will also determine how fast you recover from the dental implant placement procedure. If you have a healthy jaw bone, the recovery process will be smooth and timely. However, if you have a damaged jaw bone, you might require bone grafting. This can slow down the recovery process. The state of your jawbone plays a crucial role in the recovery process. Contact our offices for more information on the factors affecting the recovery process.
